"Heroes and Revolutions" Teen Tech Week Gaming

The Community Room was transformed into a rockin party last Friday after school. DDR and Wii stations were open-play for new players for the afternoon.

The Guitar Hero tournament showed off some impressive skills. Thanks for all your energy and commitment to fairness! We were able to put together a 16-player bracket , with $25 at GameStop at stake. Brian's reputation preceded him, and it did win out in the end after contests with Derrick and then Owen in the finals. Congrats, dude.

The tournament was filmed by Blaise and Shepherd and we plan to show some footage on Channel 17. We'll let you know when!Shepherd won the "Dig Beyond Google" contest, with 13 correct answers from tricky sites on the internet. Both he and Aaron found that there are 4 Looneyvilles in the US, and used GoogleEarth to check the geography of Boston Common.

And we enjoyed birthday cake in honor of Will F., thanks to a generous donation from Pricechopper. Other snacks were courtesy of City Market!

See you next time-- Sunday, March 30-- more details coming soon! It will depend on your recommendations: what do you think? Super Smash Bros? Rock band? More stations, even if they are smaller TVs? Can anyone ever defeat Brian? ..... comment.....

Celebrating Teen Tech Week!

Tune In @ your library for Teen Tech Week, celebrated in libraries across the country!

At Fletcher Free you can stop in and think of a soundtrack of songs to go to your favorite book.

Or find a book with some playlists in the plot!

Wednesday was the inaugural Drop-In Computer Bank with new games and applications, and volunteers helped install the software.
And the FREE guitar classes will be continuing, every other Thursday, thanks to volunteer instructor Tim Niemiec. We also have new instruction books (with CDs) for checkout.
And of course, the grand finale: The Teen Tech Week "Heroes and Revolutions" Game Tournament is coming tomorrow! The tournament for the prize will be in Guitar Hero, with the winner taking home a $25 gift card to GameStop. There will be open play on Wii and DDR, and refreshments. Come by after school, 3-5:30 in the Community Room! For middle and high school.

Win Earbuds by Searching the Internet

The Fletcher Free Library and ALA's Teen Tech Week are sponsoring a "Dig Beyond Google" Internet Searching Contest.

Get the most answers right out of the 20 questions and win the Skullcandy earbuds. (8 answers is the most I've heard so far...) Beware the accuracy of your sources! Questions are designed to be found on the internet, but also to be a bit tricky...

You can download entry forms for grades 7-12 here:

Turn them in at the library youth desk or at the Teen Tech Week Game Tournament March 7. Good luck!!
