Games? In the Library?

Fletcher Free Library would like to host monthly open-play gaming tournaments! We're looking for volunteers to lend their console or game for a few hours, to help set up the event, and to spread the word! Give Cara a ring if you'd like to help make this happen: 865-7228. The tournaments will take probably place on a weekend late afternoon, once a month. They will be free and hopefully include food and prizes. Once we get a few going, it will be easier and easier to make game nights a regular event.... Click "comment" to give feedback!

The Golden Compass is in theatres! See it for cheap with other fans!

If you can wait 'till Wednesday, Dec. 12 to see it, the library is leading a group to see the film at the Roxy Cinema. We'll meet at the library at 3:30, head across the street and watch the movie and eat popcorn, all for $4 due to the generosity of Merrill's Roxy Cinema! Then we'll head back to the library by 6pm. Call me or email with your name and number to sign up by Monday, Dec. 10. (Contact info at left)
Enjoy this cinematic event with other Golden Compass fans!

Get psyched by going to the official website, www.goldencompassmovie.com, where you can choose daemons and read the alethiometer. Or, turn to any news site to read about the controversy surrounding the book and its symbolic representation of the Catholic church.
What do you think about that controversy? Do you have high or low expectations about the movie in general? What do you think would be most difficult to adapt from the book? Comment!
